HMAS BRISBANE
Sunk in 2006 the ex HMAS Brisbane is an amazing wreck. With its stern resting in 27 metres of water and the stack sitting in 14 meters of water it makes the Brisbane one of the most accessible dive sites in Brisbane for diving.
Once you make your way down the mooring line you are on the deck which sits in between 14 and 18 meters of water, the exHMAS Brisbane’s deck guns are still in place and much of the superstructure is still there. The ex HMAS Brisbane was deliberately sunk to create an artificial reef which means that all of the wiring and any entanglements/entrapment hazards have been removed making it an attraction for diving on the Sunshine Coast.
There are a number of Queensland Groupers, Bat Fish and Lion Fish that call the wreck home and it is prime hunting ground for hungry Kingfish who are regularly seen rounding up schools of smaller fish.
